The WiiKey 2 or D2Sun are two of our most tried & tested Wii mods. Unfortunately the Wiikey2 only works in V1 & some early V2 Wiis. Because the WiiKey 2 is now legacy we recommend the
Wii Mod Chip Installation Service – Sun Key (all Wiis) over the WiiKey 2.

Wii Key 2 Features
The Wii Key 2 or D2 Sun 1.3a5 modchip works on the v1 & some V2 (D2B Cutlegs, D2C, D2E, D2E epoxy though its not recommended) Wii consoles so to check the model of your Wii please look below. This mod Wii offers Direct boot of all Wii backups and Wii copy games, originals, and partial region-free support for overseas games, not to mention booting Gamecube backups. This chip for Wii also supports through Wii home brew a DVD movie player, media player for divx – avi – mp3 video and audio file formats, game system emulators inc Atari, Nintendo, Arcade etc. etc., and small Wii homebrew games. Please look at the 2 Gig Card section if you are interested in homebrew for Wii apps like these loaded onto a 2 gig card. Please note we consider the WiiKey v2 not to mention the D2 Sun, D2 Pro, Wii freeloader, D2C Key, Wii Wasabi DX, and the Infectus Argon as legacy Wii Chips therefore we recommend the

Why we don’t do Wii softmod solutions
Nothing but the best is good enough for our customers which is why we don’t offer wii soft mod solutions like the wii usb loader and homebrew for Wii. We use only Wii hardware mod options like the WiiKey 2 and not cheaper softmod wii solutions. Where Wii mod installers who deal exclusively with Wii softmodden solutions and “how to unlock wii” guides that are merely software and therefore only temporary and can even kill your Wii (especially Wii system update 4.3) when doing a Wii update. Unfortunately updates are packed with game discs and required to be installed to play the game. Once selected the Wii softmods are completely deleted or your Wii motherboard may die from the update.
So software like the Wii loader usb, Wii usb loader gx, Wii backup loader, and even the homebrew Wii channel are not the best options in the long-run.

How to Identify your Console Version --- Wii Console
The serial number is located on the side of the Wii
console underneath the UPC code and next to the console fan. Please note these serial numbers are only for Australian Wii consoles.

To add a 2 gig card option to run the homebrew channel Wii the cost is $25.00. The 2 gig card runs Wii unlocking software called GeckoOS that improves the region free Wii ability for Wii System Update 4.1 and lower. To unlock wii 4.3 and system update 4.2
Gecko OS also recovers region free for consoles. With this unlocking wii
method apps include a DVD movie player, Media Player, Game System Emulators, and Wii home brew games.
